The barks
In a plant, the main function of the bark, as a whole, is to protect the cambium and the underlying wood from moisture loss, attack by pests and chemical, mechanical or thermal agents, etc. The bark of some plants has a good -established use, for example, of cork, cinnamon, etc.
The barks we process
The bark represents the part of the plant where substances such as tannins (pine, oak, eucalyptus, etc.), dyes, alkaloids, etc., can be found, some of which also have historical importance. A few examples? Salicylic acid, found in the bark of the white willow tree (Salix alba), and cinchona, found in the bark of the cinchona tree (Cincona officinalis).
