Resin extracts

The resin
Resin represents a plant defense mechanism that usually intervenes when the bark, which has a protective function for the underlying life layers from external stresses, temperature, insects and pests, is damaged in some way. In these situations, resin creeps into the wound to repair it.
Thus, resin is a protective substance formed in the resinous channels of many plants (Conifers, Terebintaceae, Burseraceae, etc.), from which it can be recovered by incision of the trunk of branches or bark, or simply as slime.
The resin we treat

Resins are usually in the form of more or less viscous solutions, depending on the tree species, which dry and harden in contact with the external environment. Resins have a rather complex composition and may contain volatile oils, acids, alcohols, esters, etc. Of the volatile terpene compounds in which resins are rich, the most common is alpha-pinene, which is responsible not only for the characteristic pine scent , but is also present in many other resins and essential oils (e.g., rosemary essential). Resins also contain substances with antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiparasitic activity.

Some examples of resin extracts that we can provide are:

  • Pine resin extracts
  • Boswellia resin extracts
  • Myrrh resin extracts
  • Spruce resin extracts
  • ...
